About Me
From Dr. Dulin Clark
I have been a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania for 23 years and I opened my practice in Hollidaysburg 14 years ago . I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Penn State University in 1999 and for 6 years I worked as a counselor and psychologist in the counseling centers at University of Pittsburgh and University of Delaware. I have also served as Affiliate Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology in the APA approved Counseling Psychology program at Penn State University where I instructed and supervised doctoral students.
My theoretical approach integrates cognitive behaviorism, existentialism, and positive psychology. I believe it is important to explore the patterns in thinking and behaving that we have learned and repeated over time. Personal insight constitutes a large part of my work. The identification and expression of feelings is important for developing greater insight and intuition. I also believe in the integration of healthy lifestyle changes into our therapy. These changes are different for every person but commonly address sleep, exercise, nutrition, relationships, community, vocation and spirituality.
Most importantly, my relationship with my clients is based on trust, caring, respect, and complete confidentiality. I look forward to getting to know you.
What To Expect From Your First Appointment
We will meet in my office at a mutually convenient time. You will make yourself comfortable in my private waiting area (not shared with other patients), and I will come get you. We will review your forms and gather any necessary information such as insurance, background, medications, and prior therapy.
We will then talk about what has been bothering you recently, how you have been functioning, key people in your life, and any other relevant history. By the time you leave, you will feel much more comfortable with me and the therapeutic process. Initial first-session anxiety and tension will most often feel significantly reduced.
We will also have a better understanding of how to proceed, as well as any mutually agreed-upon goals for therapy.
*** For clients who prefer video-based sessions, we will meet on a secure, web-based telehealth platform. The process is the same, and we will proceed in the same manner as if we were meeting in person.
When possible, I prefer to have the first session in my office. After that, we can move to the telehealth modality as needed.
